One of the most overlooked aspects of getting photographs on the web is the need for sharpening when the images are resized. Taking an image that looks great in an 8"x10" format and resizing it to fit on the web loses 95% of the pictures information. While the image still looks the same, it will look as if the camera was not focused properly.

The image below shows a version that was just resized from the original. Note that it looks pretty good. Most people would probably think that is a nice image. Now move your mouse over the image to get the sharpened version. Better? You may not notice that an image isn't sharp when you first look at it, but proper sharpening will make a big difference in the perception of the image.
